Welcome to Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan.
Since Ides I moved to Japan to make some money and play some games, also expand my horizons and experience a new culture and new sights. But mostly cause I got sick of the Auckland meta and its Gators.
Already I have participated in a small Steam Roller and it was great. I had a game last weekend with the T.O. Manuel, a Columbian expatriate who has been in Japan about 18 years.
He deployed Morvahna up behind the house with his ravagers looking to push past the house and thicket and crush my right flank.
His list:
Right here I was considering if Morvahna was in kill range of the Strike Force. I could have feated, figured 3 would have been out of range and none could aim. Feating would not be worth it, but then I had the brilliant plan to Blinding Light the Druids. That would make it easy for the Strike Force to deal with them!
So I moved the Chimera into range of the Druids, activated Issyria and got distracted with small talk that ended with me saying "Oh I used to play Circle I know what it all does" and then immediately proceeded to forget that Druids have Anti Magic. So Issyria just dropped Admonition on the Chimera and hid her shame behind a wall.
However the Strike Force tried their luck on the Druids anyway and came away with 3 kills. From which my opponent took a morale check and failed. Thinking about it now I'm pretty sure he did not need to take the morale check as the druids are 7 with the Overseer.
I positioned both of my Assassins on the left flank anticipating his shifting stones moving forward. It worked and one Assassin decapitated a stone, don't ask me how she just did ok.
Ravagers charge in and the first one contacts the Chimera. It Admonitions up behind the house to avoid further charges, but one still connects. The rest of the Ravagers advance into the Halberdiers kill zone.
The Druids rally. Ghettorix advances, the Winter Argus and Pureblood lay down some sprays killing about 4 Strike Force. The War Wolf charges in and clears out the Assassin. Exclamations of joy were made as a 1 point model made 200% profit in trade removing the 2 point Assassin.

End of my first turn. Strike Force did well, Halberdiers moved into position hoping to be out of threat. |
Same turn different angle. |
If Issyria did not advance past the relative safety of the wall she would suffer to kill box. |
My turn 2: feat turn.
First of all the Chimera took 2 focus, the Hydra 2. Issyria activated moving out of cover and the kill box, feats and ancillary attacks the Hydra. It hits the Pureblood and with boosted damage does about 12 points. She then cast a blinding light on the Tharn Ravagers... just cause.
Then the Strike Force activate reposition slightly and open up on Morvahna behind the house, the bolts whittle her down to a remaining 6 health or so.
The Mage Hunter Assassin then charged Ghettorix, carving off a nice 16 points of damage. It ended it's charge out of reach of Ghettorix and he chose not to hyper aggressive forward.
So then the Hydra powered up and shot, aiming and fully boosted at Ghettorix and dropped him down to one hit point. Now he hyper aggressives forward into melee with the Assassin.
Aiyanna and Holt went next, Aiyanna kisses the Ravagers targeting the one which triggered admonition on the Chimera. Holt then blows that one away.
The Halberdiers now charge the Ravagers. Firstly one charges towards Ghettorix and another runs to engage giving him the mini feat bonus, then the commander re positions to try and keep the unit in command. The rest of the Halberdiers charge in to the Ravagers and 2 try to catch the Argus, one of them charges out of command however.
The Halbs mop up all but one of the Ravagers finish off Ghettorix and put some damage on the Argus and then reform.
From here both units of Storm Fall Archers aim and brutal damage down the Pureblood Warpwolf.
Circle turn: 3
Morvahna only has 5 boxes she can cut to feat with but does it anyway and brings back the Ravagers.
The Druids set up and deliver a Devouring killing all but 2 of the Strike Force. The Winter Argus helps to remove a Halberdier and a Ravager kills 2 more.
The other Argus also kills 2 Halberdiers.
This is the stage of battle Issyria players lament, and to be honest I didn't see it coming. I felt so confident after my feat that I completely forgot about Morvahnas feat, but also after remembering it was utterly surprised she cut down to one box to use it.
It was well payed however as returning the Ravagers to play took much of the wind from my sails.
Morvahna personally killed my Chimera and light cavalried back behind the house.
My turn: 3 Although Morvahna was on one box and 2 transfers, I didn't have anything remaining that could reliably hit her, I could activate my entire army to try and get lucky at least 3 times or I could play long and remove the threats. After all I still had an untouched Hydra and 2 units of Storm Fall Archers. As well as Holt.
I removed the Argus with Holt and the House guard Thane and my army went to work on killing the Ravagers and the Druid Overseer.
His turn: 4
The Winter Argus was still a legitimate threat, as was Morvahna herself unlike Issyria. He had again one remaining Ravager, with the Druids and the Argus he tried to set up an assassination on Issyria but didn't get the dice he needed.
He ends his turn with Morvahna back behind the house.
My turn: 4
At this point I could have, I should have used the Hydra to knock down the Argus. The chain attack grab and smash was the best chance I had to either kill it or leave it wounded enough to kill with a lucky Storm fall.
In stead I went for an assassination. Morvahna still had transfers to a mostly Un harmed Argus and had healed from the damage I did to her troops and the carnivore spell.
Basically she is a milf on a goat and Issyria was terrified.
Hydra activates, disengages itself with the Druid eating a free Strike which loads it up with another focus for 4. It gets behind the cover Morvahna has and boosts hit and damage doing a substantial hit, which she transfers and kills the Argus, the overflow still leaves her on less than 4 boxes.
So Issyria moved, then used velocity to get behind the cover Morvahna was using. She boosted and cast a blinding light and missed, the ancillary attacked with the Hydra and missed.
The Witch Doctor was sitting in front of Morvahna so all of my Storm fall Archers aimed and attempted to land a blast on her or set the Croctor on fire. Everything missed or deviated the wrong way.
Basically a bad plan for a turn went badly and the result was terribad.
His turn: 5
Issyria was served on a platter.
With a teleport from his shifting stones (which does not trigger admonition) Issyria was literally stuck behind a rock and a hard place.
The Winter Argus charged in and killed her.
y u hate my gators :(
